A Home from Home
The Knitted Dog is set up to be a 'home from home' for your dog.
Daily life is as normal as possible, but with the added benefit of your dog seeing their doggy friends & getting some fun training time with me!
From the postman ringing the doorbell, to watching the world go by from the garden, to snuggling up on my lap for a nap, your dog gets to spend their days in a loving home with plenty of opportunity to practise real world skills & behaviours.
Would you like your dog to have good manners when people come to visit? To be able to watch people walking past outside without barking? Maybe you have a puppy who is still being toilet trained? All these skills (& more!) can be learned here as your dog is treated as if they were our own.
Playing & Training
As a certified Family Dog Mediator, I have a huge passion for dog training, with a particular focus on puppies. My approach is based on the science of Applied Ethology & I train each dog using the L.E.G.S model - taking their Learning, Environment, Genetics & individual Self into account to create a co-operative relationship with a foundation of mutual respect & understanding. My ethos is that training should feel playful & rewarding for both dog & human!
Once your dog is a Knitted Dog member, some training (such as recall, loose lead walking & paying attention around distractions) is included as standard - you will be asked about your dog's current behaviour & training goals during the vetting process so that I can get an idea of where your dog is currently & what training would be suitable.
For younger dogs & puppies, I have a secondary dog training business, Patchwork Puppies, which includes time in the day care as part of some of the training packages. This training is for puppies from 8 weeks to 18 months old. Check out our Services to find out more!
